Tips to Help Houseplants Dry Out Faster?

I've got a variety of houseplants in my living room and bedroom, but I'm running into an issue where the soil takes way too long to dry out—sometimes up to three weeks! This is leading to root rot and unhealthy plants. The only ones that seem to dry out well are on my windowsill, where they get some morning sun. I'm looking for advice on how to help my other plants, especially those that aren't getting as much light or warmth. Any tips?

Another idea is to amend the existing soil with some inorganic grit. This can help increase airflow and drainage which is crucial for plant health. Make sure there’s good ventilation around the roots!

I just added some rocks to the bottom of my pots, hoping it'll help!

You might want to consider repotting your plants in better draining soil to help them dry out more quickly. A mix that includes perlite or sand can really enhance drainage. It makes a big difference!

Check if your pots have drainage holes. If they’re in heavy ceramic pots without good drainage, that can be a problem. Plastic pots with drainage holes can help a lot, especially if paired with the right soil.

I have some plants in ceramic and some in plastic, but at least the ceramic ones have a drainage hole.
