Tips to Prevent Numbness and Tingling During Long Carving or Sanding Sessions?

I'm someone who really enjoys detail carving and sanding, and I find it quite relaxing, but after a day or two of this work, my hands start to feel numb and tingly. It's frustrating because I don't want to stop to finish my projects! I know I need to take breaks and possibly see a doctor, but I'm looking for advice on techniques or tools that could help reduce this discomfort. For example, I know power carving can be a time-saver, but it comes with its own challenges, like increased tension in the hands. When sanding, I debate whether to pinch the sandpaper to shape it or use a stick tipped with sandpaper. Is there a method that works better to reduce strain? Any tips or tricks you guys have discovered that make this easier?

Using high-quality tools is a must, and don't hesitate to take breaks! Seriously, stepping away for a few minutes can save your hands in the long run.

At my age, I've learned that listening to my body is key. Don't wait too long between breaks; tissue damage can build up without you noticing. Just take it easier!

Totally get that! I have a tendency to push through because I’m close to finishing something. Appreciate the insight!
