Hey everyone! I'm curious about your thoughts on top vs bottom watering for plants. Recently, I've been using bottom watering for all my plants, but I'm wondering if it's actually better for their health. What do you think?

I used to be all about bottom watering, but with my chunky soil mix, it just didn’t work out that well for me. I find that top watering fits better with my setup.

That makes sense! It’s all about finding what works for your specific soil mix.

I’m definitely team top watering. Bottom watering can be tricky since it might not soak the whole root zone—those roots near the surface can dry out and die off, which isn’t great for the plant. Some plants like water at the bottom, especially swamp species, but most prefer the good old top watering just like they get in nature.

I’ve switched to bottom watering recently and I really like it! It feels like my plants only take what they need. I submerge them for about 30 minutes, then remove the excess water. It seems to promote healthy growth, and it fits my routine well.
