Transplanting Cucumber Seedlings – Is It Worth It?

I'm really curious about transplanting cucumber seedlings. Have any of you had success with it, or would it be better for me to start from seed? I'm feeling a bit impatient waiting for them to grow!

You definitely can transplant cucumbers, but it's a bit tricky since their roots are super sensitive! Wait until they develop true leaves and are sturdy enough to come out of the seed starter without roughing them up too much. Dig a hole that’s just right, so you won’t have to cram them too much. They might act a bit grumpy for a few days but usually bounce back!

I agree! I find using those flimsy pots helps reduce root stress. Makes it easier to get them out without damaging anything.

I've been transplanting my cucumber seedlings every year without any issues! The trick is to do it before they get too big, as you want to avoid them being root bound. Just be cautious and make sure to handle them gently.

I've had success too! Most of my transplants survive, though they do look quite dramatic right after planting. They only grow so fast that it's crucial to get them in before they get root bound. But honestly, I think it's better than direct sowing, especially if pests are an issue.
