Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a new hammer drill and I'm really confused by the various model numbers for Dewalt drills. Does anyone know if a higher model number indicates a more powerful drill? Thanks a lot for your help!

The numbering system for Dewalt drills can be quite confusing. For example, the DCD 805 is a solid choice, but honestly, I don’t think there's any consistent logic behind the numbering. It's a bit of a headache to figure it all out!

Yeah, I've noticed that too! The DCD 805 and the DCD 996 are both great, but the differences aren’t always clear.

Generally speaking, yes, higher model numbers tend to indicate more power and features. The DCD 1007 is one of the latest and most powerful with three gears and anti-kickback. Just keep in mind it's also heavier than some other models.
