Hey everyone! I'm working on an outdoor bath setup, but the hot water source is a bit far away. I'm looking at using a regular garden hose to transport hot water since those long, hot-water rated hoses are pretty pricey. My main concern is whether using a regular hose could pose any health risks, like microplastics entering the water. Does anyone have experience with this or any tips? Thanks in advance!

If you’re planning on keeping this setup around for a while, consider using PVC piping instead. It’s not too hard to install and might be a more reliable option in the long run compared to a hose.
One thing to think about is that using a regular hose might lead to leaks or it failing sooner than you expect. It’s something to keep in mind if you plan on using it frequently.
We fill our hot tub using a garden hose that's about 15 meters long, and I’ve had no issues as long as it’s not being used for regular hot water transport. Just make sure you’ve got a cutoff valve at your house to help control things.
I’ve run hot water through a standard rubber hose for things like kiddie pools and even washing my dog. The hose isn’t labeled for hot water use, so it might wear out faster, but I figure if I need to replace it every 10 years, that's not too bad. Just keep in mind that rubber hoses can shed microplastics over time.
Why not just go for some buried PEX tubing? It's pretty easy to install, roughly the same cost, and super durable for outdoor use. You can transition to galvanized at a joint for strength, plus you can add a faucet at the end and use a short hose afterwards.
