Using the Naguri Pattern – Router vs. Die Grinder

Hey everyone! I'm building a bookshelf and I want to add some texture using the Naguri pattern. I've seen this technique done with a router and a jig, but I'm wondering if I could do it freehand with a die grinder instead. Would it be safe to use a router without the baseplate for this? Any advice would be appreciated!

You might want to consider using a Dremel for this. It's a compact tool that can give you good precision on detailed work like the Naguri pattern without the bulk of a router. Plus, it's easier to maneuver!

That makes sense. I do have access to both a Dremel and a die grinder at work, so I might go that route. I just wasn't sure if the router could handle it since I'm only making light touches on the wood.
