Vinyl Window Replacement: Nail Fin or RWD Vinyl Trim?

I'm getting my windows replaced here in Florida, specifically vinyl ones, likely from PGT. For my second-story windows, I've heard mixed methods. Some companies remove a bit of stucco and install nail fin windows, then restucco. Others suggest using RWD Vinyl trim over the stucco instead. My question is whether I should opt for the more expensive installation with nail fin, as it seems like the better choice, but most estimates I've gotten lean towards the easier option. What do you think?

Exactly! The stucco key trims are designed to align with the existing stucco and can be covered with the RWD vinyl trim using adhesive. In contrast, removing stucco for nail fin installation involves nailing it in place, then restuccoing, which might not require trim. The key method can save you some hassle and expenses, but whether it’s just as effective can be subjective. Just think about the potential for future issues with adhesive parts if things don’t hold up, like those viral Cybertruck mishaps, haha!

You might want to check if the manufacturer offers a stucco key instead of a traditional nailing flange. A lot of companies are now providing this option. It gets installed like a new construction window, but the fun part is that it's a little more user-friendly. Plus, they typically come with a trim piece that fits nicely with the stucco.
