Ways to Hang a Flag on a Rented Wall Without Damaging It?

I'm looking to hang a flag on my interior wall in my rented apartment, but I'm facing some challenges. I'd prefer not to drill any holes since I'm renting. Thumb tacks are out too since the wall is solid concrete, and I worry that any adhesive solutions might damage the paint. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? I'd really appreciate your advice on alternatives!

There’s also this putty-like stuff meant for hanging posters. It’s user-friendly and should come off easily without leaving a mark! Alternatively, you can get those gold picture hooks which are like little fish hooks—they handle a decent weight and only leave a tiny hole behind.

Have you thought about hanging it from the ceiling using hooks and some string? It could give a cool look! But if that's not possible due to your false ceiling, there are other options, like using suction cups with hooks on a window if that works better for you.

I do have a false ceiling! I’m unsure if that’ll work though, would need to check.

If your flag has grommets (those little holes with metal rings), I recommend using Command strips. They stick one side to the flag and the other to the wall. But make sure you check if they’ll damage your paint; some people are cautious about that. As another option, you could attach a small metal washer to the wall, then use neodymium magnets to hold the flag up. If the flag moves or gets yanked, the magnets will pop off, keeping your paint safe!

Just to clarify, aren’t Command strips still adhesive? I think they might not be safe on painted walls.

Good point; I get why you’d be worried! But my experience with Command strips is that they don’t usually peel paint off. Worth a shot!
