Hey everyone, I've been hearing this strange low hum in my house every 12 seconds or so, and it's been going on for about 12 hours now. It lasts for around 5 to 10 seconds, and I can hear it in the kitchen, living room, hallway, outside patio, and the bedroom. I finally found the source: it's the sump pump for my AC blower located in the crawl space under the house. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered something similar or has theories about such noises before I figured it out!

I’ve been through something similar! When I heard a strange noise in my tiny house, it took us three weeks to figure it out! Sometimes, I found that having someone inside while someone else checked outside could help pinpoint it faster. We eventually discovered a piece of wood that was squeaking in the wind. It might be worth a shot to have a buddy help you out!
Your story reminds me of when I moved into my old 1940s house and heard this crazy loud noise that felt like it vibrated throughout the space. I couldn't figure it out until I checked the attic and realized it was a tree limb strumming against my phone and cable lines, sounding just like a violin! So, what you’re hearing might just be something more mundane but tricky to spot, like a loose wire or a tree outside.

Sounds like an AC sump pump could definitely be the culprit, given your description of the noise and its periodicity. I’d recommend trying to switch off your circuit breakers one by one until the sound disappears to really isolate the issue. It might help you figure it out for sure!
