What Alcohol Terms Should I Know for Serving Guests?

I've got some guests coming over, and while I don't drink myself due to my Christian background, I want to make sure they have a good time. Can anyone help me out with some alcohol terminology, like what a 'shot' or 'peg' is? Also, what are some tips on how to serve drinks? Things like glass types, storage, and maybe even some recommended spirits or beers would be great!

When hosting, it's all about knowing what your guests might enjoy! If you're serving food, consider wine pairings that go with the meal. You can't go wrong with a good lager like Highlife or Coors Banquet. In terms of spirits, you might want to start with a few staples: bourbon, vodka, and tequila are popular choices. A good selection might be Tito's vodka, Maker's Mark bourbon, and Vida mezcal. You can typically put together a decent starter bar for about $100. For glassware, check out local antiques shops for unique pieces, but a few rocks glasses and wine glasses will cover most needs pretty well!
