What are realistic renovation costs for my home in Raleigh, NC?

I'm looking to renovate my 1400 sqft home and wanted to get an idea of realistic costs. Specifics of my plan include renovating a half bath (18 sqft) where I'm changing the vanity top to quartz, sanding and painting the cupboards to an espresso finish, and brightening up the walls. I'm also considering flooring options because I have a big dog and a cat, leaning towards a 20+ mil Stainmaster floor in pine oak color, priced at $2.99. I plan to paint my first and second floors to agreeable gray, which I estimate to total about 1000 sqft, especially given my tall ceilings (around 17 ft). Additionally, I want to raise the hearth of the fireplace to make cleaning easier. I received a quote of $8.8k for all of this, and I'm wondering if that sounds reasonable.

Considering that you're raising the hearth and changing up a bathroom, $8.8k feels on the lower end. It’s good to check if the flooring costs are included in that price or if it's just labor. In many places, just the flooring overhaul would cost around $4200! So, check out the details to get clarity on what you’re actually signing up for.

Exactly! And don’t hesitate to ask for specifics on materials and maybe even a timeline for the project!

That quote seems quite low for all the work you’re planning, especially with those high ceilings involved! Just painting alone in my area would usually run about that, if not more. And adding in flooring and cabinetry? It's a lot! If the person doing all of it has a good reputation and can handle everything, you're probably getting a pretty sweet deal! Just make sure to confirm what’s included in that bid!

Yeah, it sounds like an amazing deal to me too! Just be aware if there are any hidden costs down the line.
