What are some alternatives for reconfiguring our bathroom door?

Hey folks! My wife and I are considering upgrading our bathroom by adding a wider vanity since we currently only have one sink. We were looking into options like a barn door or a pocket door, but I've read that barn doors aren't great for keeping sound and smells contained, and pocket doors might not be feasible due to the wall space required. I'm worried that an outward swinging door would also be a hassle in our setup. Are there any other solutions that could help us maximize the space in our bathroom? I've attached a couple of pictures to show the current setup and the vanity edge. Thanks for any advice!

You might want to consider changing the hinge side of the door. If the door swings in the opposite direction, it could really help with space issues. Moving the door frame a bit may also be an option worth exploring!

I noticed you updated your post with some pictures! From what I see, repositioning the door’s opening might be a smart move. Just a foot or so could really change how much space you have.

Thanks for checking out the pics! I think moving the door might just work—going to discuss it with my wife!

Have you thought about reversing the door swing? If it opens the other way, it might free up some space by making it easier to access the vanity.
