I recently laid down 1200 square feet of sod in my yard, but my dogs love to dig and it's becoming a problem. My husband prefers using a shock collar to correct their digging, but he's away for days at a time, leaving me to handle the situation alone. With three kids, I really don't have the time or energy to constantly supervise the dogs and correct their behavior. Besides building a fence, shock collars, or giving up the dogs altogether, what are some other solutions I can consider?

Consider setting up a dig pit or sandbox specifically for your dogs. It gives them a dedicated spot to dig without wrecking your yard. Just make it fun and they'll be drawn to that area instead!
I faced a similar issue before. What worked for me was creating a designated digging area in the yard. Just a small corner where the dogs are free to dig without disturbing the rest of your lawn. It gave them an outlet for their digging instincts without ruining your beautiful sod.
You might want to check out no-dig fences available at home improvement stores. They're less permanent and some come with gate options, which makes it easy to access your space. I think it's a good temporary solution. While you work on training with a corrective collar, a no-dig fence can help contain where your dogs can roam.
