I'm looking for suggestions on plants that deer will typically ignore for a section of my yard. We recently enclosed our yard with a 6 ft privacy fence, which now overlooks the neighborhood sidewalk. There's about 6 ft between the fence and the sidewalk that's just grass right now, but I want to liven it up with some plants and flowers. The challenge is that these deer have been munching on everything in sight, and it seems like they're getting bolder each year! We're in Zone 7a, and the area gets full morning sun but is shaded by the fence in the afternoon. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

While it’s true that no plant is completely deer-proof, you should check out some deer-resistant perennials and shrubs. They tend to avoid certain plants. Personally, I've had success using Liquid Fence spray—it deters them effectively and can be found at most garden centers.
Deer will munch on most plants when they’re really hungry, but I’ve had good luck with anise hyssop. They seem to leave it alone, possibly due to its strong licorice scent. I’ve also grown wild bergamot, lavender, sage, milkweed, and globe alliums without any bites. These might be worth considering for your yard!
That’s really encouraging! I’ll look into those options. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check out Liquid Fence.
