What Are Some Easy Plants for Beginners in a Desert Apartment?

Hi everyone! I recently moved into an apartment where I live with my two dogs, and we're in a desert climate. My apartment stays pretty comfortable at around 74-76 degrees and gets a good amount of morning sunlight. I want to bring some plants into my home but I'm not sure which types are best for beginners—especially low-maintenance options so I can avoid killing them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for being kind as I'm new here! ??

You might want to try a snake plant, ZZ plant, or a pothos—they're all great for beginners! ? They don’t need a lot of attention and can thrive in your conditions.

I'd also recommend the snake plant and golden pothos. They're pretty hard to kill, which is perfect for beginners. Just make sure to give them some light and they should do well!

I’ve had good luck with snake plants and spider plants—they’ve survived over 20 years! The ZZ plant is super low-maintenance; it can thrive even if you forget to water it sometimes. Just remember that you'll probably lose a few plants while learning, but that’s part of the process. Also, be sure to check for pests when you buy new plants!
