I'm looking to grow some plants on my balcony, which gets a decent amount of indirect sunlight. I initially thought about starting with some herbs like basil, but since I have room for larger planters, I'm interested in growing more substantial crops that I can use for cooking. Besides tomatoes, what are some other easy starter plants I can cultivate on my balcony?

Keep in mind that growing vegetables can be pretty tough without direct sunlight since they need a lot of energy. Herbs like basil and chives are a good choice, and they thrive well in these conditions. Plus, an herb garden is always rewarding!
You might want to consider growing Swiss chard, strawberries, chives, or even potatoes. Snow peas and butternut squash can also work well in containers if you have the space. Lots of options to think about!
Herbs are definitely a great option! I've had success with cucumbers as well, which are relatively easy to grow on a balcony. Plus, it's super rewarding to use fresh herbs in your cooking. Good luck with your gardening!

Totally agree! Herbs are perfect for small spaces and super practical for cooking.
