I'm looking to upgrade my design skills from using graph paper to creating 3D models on my laptop. I want to find some software that isn't overly complex since I'm currently working on a few projects like designing a doghouse, a go-kart frame, and a metal frame for a reptile enclosure. Ideally, I'm hoping for something simple and free, but I would love any recommendations!

Blender is another great choice! It's completely free, has a strong community, and you'll find tons of resources online. It might seem overwhelming at first, but just start with simple projects and you'll get the hang of it!
If you want something free and user-friendly, SketchUp is the way to go! I use it to model everything from houses to furniture, and within a few hours of following the tutorials, you can create some really impressive stuff. Blender is another option, but it's a bit more complex, so I'd recommend starting with SketchUp.
I've had a great experience with Fusion 360! They have fantastic tutorials to help you get started, and the forums are really helpful if you get stuck. Even if you're new to CAD, it's pretty intuitive once you dive in!

Totally agree! If you have any CAD experience, you'll pick it up quickly, plus the free version is pretty robust!
