What Are Some Good Bathroom Plants for Air Purification That Are Safe for Cats?

Hey everyone! I'm diving into the world of indoor plants thanks to my friend's amazing indoor garden, and I really want to spruce up my bathroom with some live greenery instead of plastic. I'm looking for plants that can improve the air quality in my rental, especially ones that are effective at purifying the air. I've heard that plants like English ivy and spider plants can help with that, but I'm more interested in natural options since I prefer the fresh smell that plants bring over electric air purifiers.

I do have a couple of cats, so it's super important that any plants I choose are non-toxic to them. They'll definitely try to munch on anything that's in reach! Also, since I'm focused on my bathroom, the plants should be able to tolerate low light or shade. I can place them in sunlight if necessary, but they mostly need to thrive in darker conditions.

So, does anyone have recommendations for plants that fit these criteria? Specifically, I'm looking for options that purify the air, are safe for cats, and can handle low-light situations. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've got a jade plant in my bathroom that gets good light, but I can’t say how it would do in the shade. My snake plants are really tough; they’ve survived some neglect and still look great! You might want to give them a try too.

Just a heads up that toxicity levels in plants can vary quite a bit. Some plants can be seriously dangerous, while others may only cause mild irritation if ingested. Make sure to research any plants you consider, especially their effects on pets! By the way, my cats say hi to yours!

Most living plants can purify the air to some extent, but those with larger leaves tend to be more effective. To see some real benefits, you'd want a good number of plants. Since you’re focusing on your bathroom, think about options that thrive in humidity and lower light. Ferns could be perfect for you and are generally non-toxic to cats!
