Hey everyone! I've got some big empty spots where I put in bare root strawberries and raspberries, but they aren't showing much growth and it's already mid-May. I did amend the soil with Berry Tone when I planted them, but I'm starting to think they might not make it. I love the idea of filling those empty spaces since a bare spot is a gardener's opportunity! Besides mint (definitely not going there), is there anything else that can handle a bit of acidity?

A lot of folks plant asparagus alongside strawberries since they occupy different soil layers. Just let the asparagus establish for a year or two and then tuck the strawberries in. But since you already have strawberries, that setup might be a bit tricky!
You might want to let the strawberries fill in those gaps instead of adding more plants. They’ll likely expand and cover the space eventually, so just give them some time!
Will they fill in this year, though? I know they eventually will, but I’m trying to see if I can squeeze something in the open spots for now.
I’ve got rosemary and sage growing with my strawberries, and for raspberries, I’ve paired them with dill and lupine. It all seems to thrive together!
Rosemary and sage sound great since we use those in cooking! Appreciate the suggestion!

I actually have asparagus in a nearby bed! I’ve noticed it kind of takes over. Good to know!
