I'm looking to enhance my front door area, which currently looks a bit dull. I have a container that measures about 50x50x50 cm. I was considering sweet box as a potential plant, but I'm eager to explore more options before making a final decision. Ideally, I want something decorative and preferably evergreen since it will be a permanent fixture. Bonus points for fragrance! The container is located in a technically west-facing spot, but due to the L-shape of my building, it's shaded from the south until the evening. It gets a few hours of sun during summer, but winter sunlight is quite limited.

Sweet box (sarcococca) is a great option for a fragrant evergreen. You might also want to check out daphne odora; I have one by my back door, and it blooms in winter, which is a lovely surprise on cold February mornings!
Consider adding jasmine to your list. It's known for its wonderful scent and can climb beautifully if you have something for it to latch onto.
Camellias are another excellent choice. They’re evergreen and produce beautiful rose-like flowers in spring. Just remember to plant them with ericaceous compost, and they should thrive in your north-west aspect!
