Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a versatile router that can handle a variety of tasks. I can't get the Bosch 1617EVS because I'm not in the US, so I'm looking for alternative recommendations. Specifically, I'm searching for routers that have plunge base capabilities, adjustable variable speeds, and can work with both 1/4" and 1/2" bits. It would also be great if it has a solid dust collection system. Thanks in advance!

If Makita is available where you are, I'd recommend the RT0701C model—it's arguably one of the best tools I've owned for the price! That said, I've also heard great things about the DeWalt routers.
The Festool OF-1010 is nearly perfect—lightweight yet powerful with great plunge action and ergonomics. The dust collection is incredible, but keep in mind it doesn't take 1/2" bits, only 8mm. If you go with a router that takes 1/2" bits, I'd lean towards Makita or maybe the DeWalt if you're considering cordless options too.
Sounds promising, but I really need a router that can take 1/2" bits since I prefer the options they offer. Festool does look tempting, but I think I'll hold off for now!
Totally agree about Festool having the best dust collection. It's a must-have for any router, especially when doing mortising!
If you can find it, the DeWalt DCW620B is highly praised and works well, especially if you can get your hands on the powerstack batteries. For a pricier option, the Festool OF-1010 is top-notch but definitely on the expensive side.
I hear you on the cordless thing. I’m a bit wary about battery life too, so if you prefer corded, definitely look for something that fits your needs better.
I've got two DeWalts and they perform great! They were originally designed by Swiss company ELU, so they're solid.
Makita tools are pretty common in my area too, so I'm definitely checking this one out! Thanks for the tip.
