I'm new to woodworking and really looking to dive in. Can anyone recommend some good starter books to help me get going?

You should check out "The Essential Woodworker" by Robert Wearing. It's straightforward and really covers the basics, from planning to actually building things like boxes.
I highly recommend "Essential Joinery" by Marc Spagnuolo, aka The Wood Whisperer. It focuses on fundamental techniques and is very beginner-friendly.
It really depends on what type of woodworking you want to focus on. Have you thought about whether you want to use hand tools or power tools? Also, starting with smaller projects is a great idea, and you can find lots of resources on what to make. Don't forget to check your local library for a selection!
