I'm dealing with a gigantic north-facing fence at the back of my garden that really ruins the view. I want to find some climbing or trailing plants that can beautify it. I'm not completely new to gardening, but this is my first year with a large garden, so I'm a bit unsure about my options.
It would be awesome if the plants were relatively inexpensive (under £30) or can be potted so I can take them along when I move. Bonus if they grow quickly and have colorful flowers that would delight a toddler, but mainly, I just want to avoid a drab, boring fence while doing my chores.

You might want to try Clematis armandii; it's a lovely climbing plant that can thrive in north-facing situations. Passionflower is also a fun choice, bringing more character to the fence. Just be aware that some varieties can be quite vigorous!
If you're thinking about climbing plants, definitely consider climbing roses! They can handle a bit of shade, although they won't bloom as much as in full sun. Check out the David Austin website, which lets you filter for varieties that work in shadier spots. Another good option is the 'Generous Gardener' rose, which flowers repeatedly and does well in partial shade. Plus, it's a beautiful pale pink!
Clematis is a solid pick for your situation. These can create a lovely visual along a fence, and they offer beautiful blooms. Just make sure to pick varieties that are more shade-tolerant!
Totally agree! Roses are great for this. They add a nice touch and, with the right variety, they'll still give you some flowers even in part shade.
