Hey everyone! I'm totally new to the world of house plants and not having much luck growing seeds. I'm looking to buy some easy-to-care-for plants from a nursery that can thrive in my room. My only window is pretty small, and I don't really want to put anything on the sill. I'd prefer plants that don't need a lot of light since my room tends to be on the darker side. I love the look of Persian shield plants, Echeveria Queen Crown, Drosanthemum, and Haworthia cooperi var pilifera, but I need some suggestions for starter plants that I can keep alive. Any tips for plant care would also be greatly appreciated! Oh, and I'm from southern Ohio! Thanks!

If you're unsure, I'd recommend getting a pothos plant! They're super hardy and will survive in low light, though they might not flourish like they would in brighter conditions. I also find that syngoniums are similar in care to pothos; they tend to grow well even when slightly neglected. Since you can’t put anything on the windowsill, you could consider setting up a shelf or getting some grow lights to help out with the light situation.
I recently dove deep into houseplants, and I can tell you that pothos and ZZ plants are fantastic choices! If you’re looking for something different, try the raven ZZ – it's pretty unique! I also got into using grow lights, and I've found they make a big difference. If you're into the purple aesthetic, consider adding Tradescantias to your list; they grow pretty well even in lower light conditions, though they prefer brighter spots.
