What Are Some Low-Maintenance Plants for Privacy in My Front Garden?

Asked By GardenGnome123 On

I'm trying to add some privacy to my front garden, which is raised above street level. I don't need anything too tall, but I want something I can buy that's already somewhat grown, so I don't have to wait long for it to take effect. The garden gets direct sun for most of the day, except in the evening. Any recommendations?

Roses could be a beautiful option. How about pairing some red roses with lavender? Also, consider spirea or Pittosporum for a pop of color. If you're looking for an instant hedge, you can get containerized sections that are ready to go, although they can be a bit pricey!

You might want to consider planting rosemary or lavender! They can be bought already part grown, and they have a wonderful scent. Plus, they attract pollinators when they bloom. For care, just cut down the flower stalks of the lavender at the end of the season and give rosemary a trim each year to promote new growth.

Are you thinking about a hedge or just a couple of individual plants? That could affect your choices! They can both give you the privacy you’re looking for.

Also, are you open to going with something like bamboo in planters? Just keep in mind that smaller plants are easier to steal if you live in a shady area!
