I'm looking for some creative woodworking project ideas suitable for a 9-year-old to work on this summer. Ideally, I want her to create something small and manageable that she can make in batches of 10 to 20 to donate to a local organization, school, or library. I already have tools and wood available, primarily air-dried poplar and oak. I've thought about making birdhouses, but I'm open to any other suggestions you might have!

I’ve heard that making bird, bee, and bat houses is a great way for kids to help local wildlife. They can also try their hand at making book stands or simple coat hooks. These projects are easy to create and can really benefit community spaces!
For a furry friend angle, consider making dog bowl holders or raised dog bed frames to help keep them warm in winter. These projects aren’t very complex, but they can make such a difference for local pet rescues!
You might want to consider crafting some wooden handles for paper coffee cups. It’s a small project that can be quite fun! You can make a template for her to trace, and she can use a coping saw to cut them out with some help. Adding some pastel wood stains might make them even more appealing!
How about building a little free library? They’re a fantastic way for kids to contribute to their community by promoting reading. Plus, they can decorate them however they like to make them unique! Check out resources online for how to get started with building one.
That sounds like a great idea! I love the idea of pastel colors too!
