What are some sneaky ways to kill a plant without it looking suspicious?

So, I have three cats that love munching on plants, and I'm living with someone who buys toxic plants, like blue hydrangeas, and won't keep them out of reach. They're already cut and in a mason jar. How can I slowly and discreetly kill the plant to protect my cats?

Another idea might be to overwater it. Pour in a cup of water daily; it can lead to root rot and eventually kill the plant. Just be careful not to make it obvious.

Honestly, if it's safe for you, you might want to reconsider living with someone who brings toxic plants home. But, if you're set on this, try adding salt to the soil or water. Just mix it with water first so it dissolves better, and then add it to the jar—it's a sneaky way to speed up the plant’s demise without drawing attention.

If it's a cut flower, you could start by cutting the stems straight rather than on an angle—it'll mess with their water intake. To be more subtle, add a bit of salt dissolved in water directly into the jar; it’ll help the plant wilt faster without anyone noticing. Just make sure to do it gradually!
