I'm planning to replace my front porch, which is currently supported by four columns that I believe are load-bearing. A contractor suggested that the only solution would involve drilling into the front of my house to brace the roof, but I'd prefer to avoid making any holes in the brick facade, even if they can be patched. Are there alternative methods to support the roof during the demolition and pouring of the new concrete?

I totally get wanting to avoid drilling! I know a couple of methods to temporarily brace the roof without making holes in your brick. I'll send you a picture that shows how to set it up. It’s a bit tricky but definitely doable!
Before anything, you should double-check if those columns are actually load-bearing. In my case, the builder just installed steel posts as placeholders, and they weren't even functional. Don’t take it for granted! It’s worth checking out first.
