What Are the Best and Worst Succulents for Beginners?

I'm curious about what succulents are considered the best and worst for beginners. I want to hear your thoughts and experiences! Are there specific types that are easy to care for, or ones that tend to disappoint new plant parents?

I think the best succulents for beginners are definitely jades and kalanchoe chocolate soldiers. They're pretty hardy and can forgive a few mistakes. Jade plants are almost indestructible! But I'd steer clear of those pale, silver rosetted succulents since they need a lot of light and can be tough to keep happy indoors.

For me, aloe plants are really easy to care for, making them a good choice for newbies. On the flip side, I've found lithops to be a real challenge—they've died on me multiple times, despite my best efforts! So if you're just starting out, maybe avoid lithops until you get the hang of it!

I'd suggest that while jade plants are a safe bet, sempervivum seems to be a disappointment for many beginners. They just don't do well indoors. If you're looking for something that thrives, try a zebra plant or a Christmas cactus; they're user-friendly, too!
