What are the Best Attic Baffles to Use?

I'm planning to install baffles in my attic pretty soon and would love some recommendations. I'm considering going with the plastic ones I found at Home Depot, but I'm curious if there are better options out there. What have been your experiences with different types of baffles?

Back in the day, I got creative by using salvage lumber for my baffles. I cut 4-foot strips and just tacked them up against the roof deck. Then, I made panels from 4x8 Styrofoam sheets to fill in the gaps. It was a bit of work, but it was cost-effective and worked really well for me! Just a tip: skip the cheap spray foam with the flimsy straws—invest in a decent metal gun instead; it makes the job way easier!

Baffles are pretty basic, but I’d say the durability is key. I personally prefer ones made from insulation foam (like XPS) because they hold up better than cardboard or even plastic, especially in those extreme attic temperatures. They tend to stay intact and perform well even in tight spots.

Exactly! You want something that won't break down too quickly. Foam baffles are definitely more resilient.
