What Are the Best Cat-Friendly Plants for My Bathroom?

Asked By CuriousCat123 On

I'm looking to add a few plants to my bathroom, but I'm totally new to houseplants since we just moved in. I want to make sure the plants I choose are safe for my cat. Could anyone recommend some good options? It would be great if you could include details like how much sunlight each plant needs, how often I should water them, and where in the bathroom they would thrive best. I'm not the best at researching this, so I really appreciate any help! Thanks!

Nerve plants are perfect for bathrooms! They thrive in low light and enjoy a humid environment, making them ideal for those steamy showers. Plus, they're super attractive with their vibrant foliage! They're so pretty! Just a heads up - if you take cold showers, the steam might not be enough for them. You might need to dampen the leaves occasionally!

Focus on the light conditions in your bathroom rather than just thinking about it being a bathroom. Many plants can adapt to low-light situations. Heart-leaf philodendrons and oak-leaf ivy are fantastic choices that can grow beautifully in those shelves! Prayer plants can be a bit tricky, but if you provide bright, indirect light and keep the soil moist, they'll thrive!

For a cute and cat-friendly option, consider Chinese money plants (Pilea peperomioides) or prayer plants (Maranta). The prayer plant is my favorite because its leaves curl up when it needs water, which is super handy for first-timers! They do well with indirect sunlight and prefer to stay slightly moist but not soggy.

Sounds good! Just make sure you give the prayer plant bright, indirect light, and it’ll be pretty forgiving. You might want to check its soil every week or so to see if it needs a drink!
