What are the best logic gates to use for a beginner on a breadboard?

I'm diving into electronics and I'm particularly interested in building projects with logic gates. Can anyone recommend some easy-to-use logic gates that I can just plug into a breadboard? I'd love it even more if they clicked when activated, as that sounds satisfying!

As everyone mentioned, grab some chips with different logic gates and start building! I recently picked up a selection pack on eBay for a project. There are loads of options out there, so have fun experimenting!

You could also look into the CD40xx series for more options! It's another classic line with some great gates you can use.

Ah, this brings back memories! The classic way to play with logic gates is definitely using the 7400 series DIP ICs on a breadboard. Make sure to wire up your inputs and outputs correctly, and if you dabble in sequential logic, don't forget about a clock source. A breadboard with built-in I/O can also be super helpful.

I agree, having some I/O on your breadboard makes everything so much easier to manage, especially for beginners!

You're in luck! The 7400 series ICs are perfect for what you're looking for. They fit nicely on breadboards and are super straightforward to use. You can check out a list of the different gates available [here](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_7400-series_integrated_circuits).

Totally! Once you’ve got your breadboard powered, it's pretty easy to work with. My first chip was the 7401, and it was a great starting point. You'll have fun!
