What Are the Best Milwaukee Batteries for My Impact Wrench?

Asked By XxGamerG3k0xX On

I'm in the automotive field and have primarily used hand tools until now. I recently picked up a Gen 2 Stubby impact wrench along with a drill that came with two 1.5 Ah batteries. I'm looking to invest in some additional batteries but am unsure about my options. I've heard the 3.0 XC and 4.0 XC batteries are popular, but I'd love some advice on what would be best to invest in, especially since I'm not too familiar with battery options.

Only a couple of M12 batteries are worth your attention right now: the High Output 5.0 and the 2.5. The 5.0 usually goes for around $60 and the 2.5 around $40, so those seem like solid investments.

If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, the 5.0 high output battery is a solid choice. Right now at Home Depot, there's a deal: you can get two 3.0 batteries and get a free 5.0 for just $129. That's three batteries for about the price of one 5.0!

Home Depot often has great deals like that, so it's worth checking regularly.

Just a heads up, though; some users suggest skipping the 3.0s since two 5.0s go for about $119. You might want to look for standalone 5.0s, which can be as low as $60.

I'd definitely recommend the M12 5.0 battery. Stay away from the 6.0; I've heard they can be unreliable. Plus, the 5.0s often come with good deals when you buy them in pairs at various retailers.

Agreed! Definitely avoid the M12 XC6.0 and other larger models like the M18 HD12.0 since they've had issues too.
