I'm looking for recommendations on home intercom systems that don't require a WiFi connection. I'm not into setups like Alexa or Google Home, so I'm hoping to find something simple and effective.

Isn't a hardwired intercom basically what you're looking for? It's less intrusive than it sounds and might be the easiest to set up.
My parents got walkie talkies for each floor of their house because they were done with yelling at each other all the time, and it works great!
That’s a fun idea! You could also consider using a baby monitor if you only need one-way communication.
