I've been sprucing up my garden with the nicer weather and am now on the hunt for some sturdy garden furniture. I came across a blog that gives solid advice on materials that endure the UK's unpredictable weather, and it seems like hardwood is a solid choice compared to other materials. I'm considering a small bistro set or foldable furniture for my patio. Has anyone had good experiences with specific brands or types of furniture that hold up well to rain and moisture?

I actually have a bistro set that’s been outside for almost ten years, and it’s still in fantastic shape. The only issue is that it gets a bit of green on it in spring, but I just pressure wash it off, or it comes off with soap and a sponge easily. It’s been stationed in a shady spot, which probably helps. We live by the sea in Wales, and honestly, anything with metal rusts fast around here. Even hardwood struggles with the constant rain. However, I've been using Tramontina garden furniture made from recycled heavy-duty plastic since 2021, and it comes in a lovely range of colors. It holds up great in our weather!
I recently snagged some outdoor sofas during Made.com’s bankruptcy sale. They’ve got powder-coated aluminum frames and an acacia wood base that feels tough, despite some fading on the cushions. I make sure to protect them during winter, so they’re still looking good in their third summer. However, I bought a pricey acacia table from John Lewis that’s aged poorly—might stick to metal or plastic for future purchases!
Totally get where you're coming from! I was checking out garden centers lately and noticed a lot of furniture with rope accents. But I really wonder how you'd clean it if it started getting green and moldy. Seems like it could be a hassle!
If you're looking for something long-lasting, consider powder-coated cast aluminum. It lasts for years!

That sounds like a smart idea! I've heard that wooden furniture can take a beating if not maintained properly. Covers and seasonal storage seem like must-haves.
