I've tried several peat-free compost brands in the UK over the past year, including Wickes, Levington, Miracle-Gro, and Westland. While Westland seemed to perform the best, I've noticed a lot of inconsistency—sometimes I get a good bag, and other times it's filled with plastic and uncomposted material. I'm curious to know what brands you all use for composting?

I make my own compost most of the time. That way, I know exactly what’s going into it, and the quality is great! Just be careful—when I moved some compost from the previous owner, I found tons of plastic mixed in, which was a nightmare. If you ever make more than you can use, consider teaming up with someone who has a larger garden to share the load!
I recently tried Westland John Innes from Tesco, but it was a big disappointment—super low in nutrients. Miracle-Gro and Verve worked much better for me. I’ve got my own compost tumbler now to help save money, but I know a lot of folks recommend making your own, though I don’t have space for that.
Dalefoot is my go-to! It’s a bit pricey, but honestly worth it for the quality. There’s also some Irish peat compost available at smaller nurseries that claims to be environmentally friendly. Oh, and Sylvagrow is another great peat-free option I’ve had success with!
