What Are the Best Plants for Lots of Direct Sunlight?

Hey everyone! I live in an apartment with a west-facing window that floods with afternoon light, and I'm looking for plant suggestions that can thrive in those conditions. I currently have some philodendrons that I keep a bit back from the window, but I want to fill up my large windowsill with sun-loving plants. What are your go-to options for plants that can handle full sunlight? Also, has anyone tried keeping jasmine indoors? Any tips?

You should also consider crotons; they love the sun and add such a vibrant touch. And don’t forget about schefflera; they can do well in strong light too! Lots of options out there!

From what I've seen, snake plants and cacti thrive in a lot of direct sunlight. They're super low maintenance, so they're a great choice for sunnier spots!

You can definitely go for plants like cacti and succulents; they really love that direct sunlight! Other good options are rubber trees, certain types of Hoyas, pothos, snake plants, ZZs, and even some Monstera varieties. Just remember to acclimate them gradually to that bright light. I had a Chinese evergreen that didn’t do so well when I put it straight in the sun without a transition; it started curling a bit. But with proper acclimation, I think it’ll be fine!

Yeah, I’ve noticed acclimating is key! My pothos gets about 6-8 hours of direct sun daily, and it’s thriving—it’s growing new leaves like crazy! So definitely gives plants time to adjust.
