I have two beautiful crab apple trees in my yard, and they have branches that are quite close together. My dad is keen on planting some greenery around the base of the trees, but I know that it can be tricky due to root competition and the substantial shade. We're in zone 6a, so I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for what might work well in that area. I was thinking about incorporating native perennials to support our local ecosystem as well. Any recommendations?

You might want to check out some native plants! It's a great idea to support the local wildlife. Just remember to provide info about your soil type and area when asking for help—as zone alone can be a bit vague. That way, the suggestions will be more tailored to your spot!
