What Are the Best Smart Smoke and CO Alarms for Home Monitoring?

Hey everyone! I'm considering replacing all the fire alarms in my home and I'm looking for some recommendations. Currently, I have First Alert alarms, but I'm open to other brands. I specifically want detectors that can sense both smoke and carbon monoxide, and I'd like them to connect to my phone for alerts whenever there's an issue. This is especially important because my dog is often alone at home. If you have any specific models or systems that would work for this purpose, I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks!

I’ve been using the Nest Protect for the past 7-8 years, and they work great. They send notifications to my phone, like "Smoke detected in the kitchen" or "Smoke clearing," which is super helpful. They also perform monthly self-tests and keep you updated, which adds peace of mind. Definitely a solid choice!

Just to chime in, smart smoke detectors haven't always been the best due to poor software, but the Google Nest Protect is an exception. It's pretty popular and well-reviewed, although on the pricier side. I recently installed ten in my home for peace of mind, in case you are interested! Simplisafe detectors are another good option if you already have their setup. If you're curious, I wrote a detailed article recently about various detectors, and I'll keep your request for smart options in mind for the future. Good luck!

You might want to look into X-sense for WiFi-enabled detectors. Just a heads-up, it can be tricky if you don't have a home security system already. I prefer smoke detectors with sealed batteries that last for 10 years, so you don’t have to deal with changing them constantly. SimpliSafe also has options that might fit your needs. Good luck!

First Alert is decent, especially if you have a Ring system like me. I use their alarms alongside my Ring cameras and other smart devices, which all work together really well. If you go that route, you’ll have a solid setup!

I didn’t realize there are WiFi-enabled detectors out there! From what I know, they can definitely make life easier, especially for monitoring remotely. Just make sure you pick a reliable brand!
