I'm diving into gardening for the first time and need some advice on soil brands. I've heard mixed reviews—Miracle Grow seems to be frowned upon, and I was considering trying Kellogg, but then I came across posts saying that it's also not a great choice for plants. Can anyone suggest some reliable brands available at Lowe's? Do big box stores even have decent soil options? I'm feeling a bit lost, so any help would be appreciated! ?

If you’ve got a big garden, consider getting soil from a local landscape supplier. They can hook you up with a custom blend that's often more cost-effective and allows you to control the quality better. For smaller planters, why not make your own mix? It’s cheaper and you can customize it to your plants' needs!
Fox Farms is my go-to brand! Their Happy Frog and Ocean Forest mixes are seriously the best for growing in containers. If I can’t find Fox Farms, I usually have good luck with Kellogg’s Patio Plus too. Just make sure to check the reviews when you buy!

I mainly have small planters right now, but I love the idea of making my own mix for future projects!
