My brother and I are having a friendly competition to see who can grow the biggest tomato by weight this summer. We're focusing solely on size, and I've already ordered some "Big Zac" seeds, but I've heard mixed reviews about them being a gimmick. If you were in my position, what seeds would you recommend for growing a giant tomato?

I had great success with an Old German variety—I managed to grow a tomato weighing 2 lbs. 10 oz. without any special care! It was super tasty too. Those could be a solid choice for your competition!
You might want to check out Giant Belgium seeds. They can reach sizes up to 5 pounds, though they usually stay under 3. If you're focused on flavor as well, I really like the Hillbilly tomatoes; they can get to about 2 pounds but taste amazing!
I’m trying the Burpee Super Sauce Tomato Hybrid this year—they claim you can grow 2 lb tomatoes from those seeds. They took a bit longer to sprout, but I’ve had luck with their Steak House Hybrid in the past, which gave me nearly 3 lbs! Hope that helps!
