I have a standard flat roof garage with brick walls and a wood/tar roof that slopes slightly. It tends to get pretty damp in the winter and really hot during the summer, so I'm thinking a vent could help manage the air quality. There's some space for airflow around the garage door, so I'm looking at adding a vent near the opposite end of the garage. I considered cutting into the wooden sections hanging down from the roof, but it looks like there isn't enough space for a proper vent there. My current options seem to be:
1. Installing air bricks by removing a brick or two and replacing them with vent bricks, but I'm unsure if they will effectively keep out water.
2. A flat roof vent outlet, though I'm concerned about how easy it will be to achieve a good waterproof seal after cutting through the plywood roof.
Are there any other solutions I might be overlooking?

I recommend going through the roof on the high side. I installed an attic vent fan with a wide flange, which seals well against water, and I've had no leaks in over 30 years. Seems like a solid option!
Have you thought about installing a rectangular duct vent in the wood or maybe putting a fan in the wall? A dehumidifier could also help, especially in winter!
Thanks, definitely considering this!
