What are the recommended torque specs for solar panel clips?

I'm trying to figure out the torque specifications for the clips on my 410W solar panels, but there's nothing mentioned in my manual. I was thinking of using around 8 pounds, but I'm worried about making them too loose or over-tightening and damaging the panels. I'm curious to hear what others typically use for torque settings.

For most solar panels, the torque spec ranges from 13 to 17 foot-pounds. That's a pretty standard range, so if you're tight around that, you should be good.

Thanks for the info! It's a bit frustrating not having the specs on the paperwork.

Last year, I set mine to 12 foot-pounds, and it seems to work fine. That’s a solid number to aim for! Definitely agree that the specs should be included in the manuals, though!

Thanks! That sounds like a good number. You'd think they'd include that info.

Just a heads up, the panel itself might not specify the clamping torque. I usually go by the manufacturer of the mounting hardware. For instance, the Iron Ridge UFO clamp recommends about 80 inch-pounds, not foot-pounds, so it’s worth checking those specs.
