What Are the Rough Costs for Roof Installation in the UK?

I'm considering getting a complete solar panel kit, but I still need someone to handle the installation of the roof framework and the panels themselves. Can anyone share what the typical costs are for hiring someone to do just the roof installation? I'm not looking for electrical work, just the roof setup.

The cost can vary quite a bit depending on your location in the UK. First off, you'll need to factor in scaffolding, which can be quite different based on how easy it is to access your roof. If you're looking to save a bit, you might want to buy the panels and mounting equipment yourself. On average, roofers usually charge around £200 an hour for a couple of guys, and they could potentially complete a standard installation in a day, totaling around £800 to £1000 for labor. For a decent-sized solar setup, you're looking at around £3,000 total, but you might find cheaper options if you shop around. Just be cautious: if you go this route, you might miss out on getting MCS sign off unless you're okay with navigating some additional hoops for grid-tied systems.

That makes sense! I usually hire an electrician for the final connection and sign-off, but I figured I could handle the other parts myself.
