As many of us are just starting to enjoy this year's garden harvest, I can't help but think ahead to next year! What new plants are you considering for your 2026 garden? Do you have any tried-and-true favorites that make an annual appearance? Personally, I'm looking forward to experimenting with a variety of ground cherries, litchi tomatoes, butterfly pea flowers, tzimbalo melon pears, rat tail radishes, and some cold hardy fruits like passion fruit and kiwi.

I’m incorporating some hybrid tomatoes next year and transitioning away from squash varieties due to pest issues. I want to try growing tromboncino squash since they yield a little differently and grow well! Herbs wise, I’m adding Thai Basil and Holy Basil.

I’ve heard tromboncino can be a fun one to grow! Just make sure to give them enough space.

I’m all about garlic! I can’t wait to get my first garlic planted this fall. Have you picked out your varieties yet?

This will be my first time planting garlic, super excited! What varieties are you thinking of?

I’m planning to try some new tomato varieties next year. Usually, I stick with my favorite cherries like Sungold and Super Sweet 100, but I'm considering Sweet Cream for a change! Also thinking about adding a couple of sweet pepper plants, even though I usually skip them. I'm hoping to get my shelling peas and spinach in this time around, so I might plant earlier than usual this spring!

If you’re looking for a good cherry tomato, I recommend trying Sungold or Sunsugar. Super sweet! Also, I’ve had luck with salad-sized tomatoes.

I’m with you on wanting to branch out with tomatoes! I’ve heard good things about Garden Peach, which has a unique fuzzy skin.

I definitely want to include more wildflowers next year! Plus, I’m aiming for shorter tomato plants after battling with heirlooms this year. And I’m only planting one sweet cucumber— I've given up on pickling varieties! How about you?

GardenTamer -

Heirlooms can grow to be huge! For tomatoes, I do prefer smaller varieties like Sungold or Sunsugar—they’re so sweet!

More wildflowers sound lovely! I’m thinking of creating a wildflower hedge along my fence too.

I’m sticking to my usual crops but want to try some new peppers like the Sugar Rush Peach. I’m also looking to grow some different pumpkin varieties and possibly even cucumbers again after failing this year.

I grew habanadas this year, and I found they have great flavors without the heat. Trying to get my hands on some more unique pepper varieties too!
