What are your best tips for successfully growing garlic?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for advice on how to grow garlic efficiently. Every time I try to grow it (and other bulb/tuber veggies like potatoes and onions), they end up turning to mush and dying in the soil. It's frustrating! I really want to tackle this challenge again, starting with garlic. Any tips or tricks for growing them from start to finish would be super helpful. Thanks a bunch!

I actually started growing garlic a while back, and here's what worked for me: I planted my bulbs in early fall when it was cold outside, about 3 inches deep with the pointy side up in a sunny spot. I didn't use any plant food, just made sure to water them daily whenever it wasn’t raining, especially in the mornings. Pull any weeds you see too. After 9 to 10 months, I harvested and let them cure in the sun for three to four weeks. I used Ukrainian Red garlic and made sure nothing was planted nearby. Hope this helps!

Awesome, thanks for sharing that! How did your garlic size turn out after the harvest? Was it worth growing them, or do you think buying from the store is just as good? I’m hoping to grow enough to last me a few months, so any insight would be great!
