Hey everyone! So, this week has been a bit of a drag with the winter kid bug keeping us indoors, and I'm really trying to find some joy in upcycling! I'm curious about your favorite upcyled projects in your gardens. Also, are there any new ideas you've been wanting to try? One of my goals this year is to be more conscious about the waste we produce, so I've been collecting all sorts of materials to repurpose. I'd love some inspiration from you all!

I just got three raised garden beds that are each 4’ x 12’ and 6 inches deep, and I've started saving cardboard to put in the bottom of them. It’s supposed to help with drainage and weed control!
I turned an old playhouse into a chicken coop! It still serves as a playhouse for my kids too, haha!
That’s so cool! How did you go about converting it? I’d love to know more about the process!
I've been gathering sticks all winter long to create borders for my garden beds at the community garden where I volunteer. They have some quirky rules, like no irrigation systems allowed, so I’m using these natural materials to work around that. One of my favorite things is the little bed liner I made; it helps keep the hose on the path instead of in the beds, which is super handy!
That’s a clever solution! Have you thought about using a buried terracotta pot to wick water? I want to try that this year!
I recently discovered that my local landfill gives away free compost and mulch! I’ve been loading up my vehicle there every Saturday. It may not be traditional upcycling, but it’s a great way to recycle organic material for my garden!
Wow, that’s awesome! I wish ours did the same. I just learned there are donation spots for food scraps at mine, but they don’t give anything back. However, your comment inspired me to check out a local program that provides vouchers for composters and rain barrels—thank you for the tip! 😊
That’s exactly what I’m doing! I’m adding two new beds this season, so I’ve been saving cardboard for both the beds and to create a compost pile!
