What Are Your Thoughts on Using LECA for Monstera and Orchids?

I just received a bunch of LECA (lightweight expanded clay aggregate) from my dad, and I'm thinking about switching my Monstera over to it. I'm also considering trying to grow some orchids. Has anyone had experience with using LECA for these plants? How would I go about making the transition?

Honestly, I've never been a fan of LECA myself. But if you're looking for a general opinion, I'd definitely say it's worth researching more! A lot of people have mixed feelings about it. What did you specifically want to know about using it?

I've heard that while it can work well, some folks struggle with gnats. What do you dislike about it?
