What Can I Do About My Neighbor’s Landscaper Running Into My Garden?

I've had enough of my neighbor's landscaper running his lawnmower into my garden! This is the third time it's happened, and each time he seems oblivious to what he's doing. Our garden bed is just five feet from the property line, which we thought was a safe distance. I've tried to stop him before when he damaged our sunflowers, and I've even reminded him that he's crossing over into our space. But today, I couldn't go out because I've been feeling unwell. I'm really frustrated and considering reaching out to our property manager since my own efforts haven't solved the issue. Am I overreacting? My wife and I have put a lot of work into this garden, and I just want to protect it.

It’s not extreme at all to address this! The landscaper should be careful about where he’s mowing. Consider blocking off your garden better, maybe with a couple of T posts or decorative rocks. Your neighbors would probably be shocked to hear their landscaper is doing this!

Maybe instead of just talking, some physical barriers could work? A couple of stakes with some caution tape or large rocks could deter him from crossing the line. You’ve been more than patient, and it sounds like putting up something visible could solve the problem. Plus, it might be worth having a conversation with your neighbors!

Definitely reach out to both the property manager and the landscaper's employer. It’s unacceptable for them to keep running over your garden—if it were my crew, I’d want to be informed right away! This is definitely a case of negligence on their part.
